Good golf family. Brad Bryant was the alternate after Nick Price withdrew from the 1991 PGA but couldn't get to Crooked Stick in time, so down the list they went until the ninth alternate and John Daly.

OK, so DJ has ensured that “golf whore” appears in the first graf of his obit. And I doubt he cares, so, yeah, make sure the usage fits.

$125 million AND Paulina Gretzky? Yeah, I don't think Dustin Johnson is too worried about what Jay Monahan IV thinks. (Although having Katie Couric as your step-mom is somewhat unusual.)

Given the rumors about his personal life, I think just "whore" will work.

I see that James Piot, who won the U.S. Amateur last year, is playing in the LIV event. He's still an amateur, and they're giving out tons of NIL money to ams, so good for him. But, what happens when he tries to go to Korn Ferry Q School in the fall? Is the PGA Tour going to blackball him for playing in this event? I can't imagine that will be the case, since he's not a member of the Tour. But it's something to think about, at least.

Interesting. Thanks, didn't realize that. I can't blame him if he's turned professional and wants to cash checks. The only way to get PGA Tour status is to go through KFT Q School, and even then, you have to grind your way through the next KFT season or win a battlefield promotion. There is basically no money on those lower-level tours (Canada, Latinoamerica, etc.). He can only live so long on sponsors exemptions.

That's interesting, Piot was listed as an am on LIV's field release. DFL pays $120,000, up to the $4 million first place, so maybe he's nudging someone ... "hey, um, here's my direct deposit info"

Matsuyama DQ'd after teeing off, for basically painting his driver face.

Betting angle I wish I'd thought of yesterday: the three pros at the Memorial who are playing LIV next week all played like crap today. Gotta be distracted and exhausted.

Do any of them have U.S. Open qualifiers on Monday? Then have to fly to London? Then back to Boston?
