Jimmie Johnson must have some kind of sweetheart deal with Carvana, I've read nothing but bad news about that company for months and the "vending machine" dealership it had in my town is long gone.

Wonder if he has any money tied up in Carvana.

Richard Petty bitching yesterday about JJ renaming the team…

The NBC station in Tampa has done stories about people buying cars from Carvana who never get their titles

Say what you want about Ricky Stenhouse, but now you have to call him “Daytona 500 champion Ricky Stenhouse” rather than “Danica’s old boyfriend.”

Another meh ending. Wish we could do away with these ridiculous finishes.

Did NASCAR make a ruling in the final two laps that deprived us of the finish we deserved?

I didn’t realize today was the Daytona 500 until, like, three minutes ago when I saw a headline about Ricky Bobby winning.

I was on the desk when Dale died. And Teresa made her power play.

I thought I heard on the broadcast that no one in the field today raced in a Daytona 500 against Dale Sr., a first since his death.

I don't think so. Daniel Suarez (who somehow recovered well enough to finish seventh) spun out and got stuck in the grass with about three laps left in regulation. Seemed like a legitimate caution.
Then the two overtime wrecks were just the usual carnage you get with a late race restart on a plate track. The only controversy might have been how long they waited to throw the caution flag during the last wreck. Looked like they waited a beat, which allowed Stenhouse to get just ahead of Logano right as it finally came out.

Plate track racing is both utterly predictable and wholly random. It's predictable there's a green-white-checker finish inspired by at least one big crash down the stretch. It's random in who survives the crash to be in the lead at the end of said finish. If they pulled a car number out of a hat with 10 laps to go it'd be pretty close to what happens. It just doesn't grab me.

I saw a commercial Tuesday or Wednesday and thought, "Huh. I guess that's this week." Didn't even think about it today until I saw a "BREAKING NEWS" blurb on EeeEssPeeEnn.
