Would’ve loved to see Helio win five, but didn’t realize until now that he wasn’t in the field.

Is Rahal’s team that bad now, or is Graham Rabaul past his sell-by date?

Helio is in, but doesn’t have a great shot.

RLL just opened a new facility in suburban Indy, but have apparently had some behind-the-scenes issues. They’ve sucked this season outside of the Indy GP.

Not sure Graham Rahal has ever been that good.

Bobby Rahal was on Letterman years ago after he won (?) the 500. Dave asked him what he thought about while driving at 220 mph, and Rahal answered, "sex." Proof positive that men think of sex about 95 percent of the time.

Scanned the grid and didn’t see his name. Whoops.

The field gets more and more anonymous every year, yet word is this year's crowd will be the biggest since the 100th Running. Really speaks to the spectacle of the whole thing.

I'm watching local news in Indy, which I don't do any other day of the year. Race day morning is a feeding frenzy for all the networks.

Well, Monaco got interesting when the rain came for a while. Barely slowed down Max, but all sorts of slipping and sliding.

On to Indy. Maybe Alonso can try the Monaco/Indy double someday soon ...

The Indy 500 radio broadcast makes sure every bill is paid. Just now a guy was reading a promo when a corner announcer broke in, in full scream, to announce a crash. Once he was done the other guy finished reading the promo and tossed to commercial.

Only watching in bits and pieces, but seems like there's been more crashes in the pits than on the track.

My last post did not age well.

More pit road mishaps than normal ... and now a dramatic crash. Guy seems to be OK, which is good considering the sled turned over.

Well, that one was on the track.

Not sure where that wheel-tire combo ended up, though.
