Most of these tracks don’t need two races. Especially Vegas.

They need to blow up the schedule for 2025 and take a cue from what IndyCar does at Iowa: Multiple doubleheader weekends outside the South/Mid-Atlantic. NASCAR and SMI should switch off on the all-star race and the championship. The championship should *not* be outside the Southeast. Preferably Atlanta, Charlotte or Darlington — maybe Rockingham if NASCAR ever decides to cater to its long-standing fans. I guess Dover would probably work, although the weather might be dicey. I’d think Bristol, North Wilkesboro and Martinsville would be too demolition derby-like for the finale, but perhaps you run a few heat races and then run a 300-lap main feature for the championship four and maybe 15 others.

Bristol, North Wilkesboro and Martinsville would all be meteorologically iffy that late in the year. Atlanta, Charlotte or Daytona Beach. Maybe Talladega. Maybe back to Homestead.

Daytona/Talladega are too much of wild cards.

Phoenix sucks for a championship race, but they spent $100 million to rebuild the track.

Atlanta is the logical answer (geographically and competitively) but this is NASCAR. The Frances would never allow their championship to be decided at an SMI venue.

True that on the LVMS media center. The drag strip's press box was nice too. Used to go out there a couple times a year, also back in motorsports' healthier media days.

12 years ago today, by the way, DW at LVMS.

Wish I could find the image of Robby Gordon doing it at Richmond. It was pretty gnarly.

I didn't get to watch today. What happened to Hamlin? I'm starting to low-key like the guy and it looks like he's not making it to the final four unless he wins next week.

His car broke — his words, not mine. Something went wrong with the steering and he hit the wall with 32 to go.

He fought the wall, and the wall won.
