    David Lindley has died, collaborator with Jackson Browne and a host of other musicians.

    I guess he couldn't stay just a little bit longer (that's his falsetto on the live version on the ROE album).

    A bar band in my hometown did a ripping cover of this song, which is how I came to hear of David Lindley. A musician’s musician, and a helluva guitar player. RIP

    Was a huge fan of his, loved what he did on Browne's "Redneck Friend" among many others things. Tremendous slide player, really eclectic musician (his debut solo album is a really interesting mix of genres) and it always seemed to me if it had strings he was a master on it.

    And "Mercury Blues" is one of the greatest covers ever done, totally destroys every version that came before or after it.

    I know most people love him, but Alan Jackson shouldn’t have touched that song. What a neutering.
