I believe this was in response to the comment on the previous page about names challenging for titles versus nobodies, like Ben Curtis. Personally, I love seeing the nobodies win. I was in Myrtle Beach with a friend during the 2002 PGA Championship and made sure we were off the beach to watch the final round so I could watch Rich Beem hold off Tiger. That 5 wood he smoked into that par 5 at Hazeltine was one of the best clutch shots ever under the circumstances.

All of this said, Beem, Curtis, Micheel, etc all feasted during that two-year window (03-04) when Tiger was again changing his swing and it wasn't taking hold at all yet.

A mix of that, and the continued complaining when anyone outside of the chosen ones win a PGA Tour event. It's gotten kind of old.

Happy to see Myrtle Beach get a PGA Tour stop, albeit an opposite-field event. But being opposite the Wells Fargo, 3.5 hours away in Charlotte, is another head-scratcher from the Tour.

Xander Schauffele will win a major at some point, right?

Xander is a top-20 machine in majors but he seems to lack a Sunday gear. And today he needed a V-12 to keep up with Rory.

And this a dream for bookies: Rory winning big one week before a major.

I’m sure the Sandler O’Neill families are thrilled.

Played Kinloch this morning for a U.S. Mid-Amateur preview media day. What a treat that was. Greens were stimping at 13 but damn if they didn't roll pure. Just a great, honest test of golf. I played the whites, but Stewart Hagestad was in the group on front of me so it was pretty cool to see how the best play that course from the back. Really nice guy, too.

Rory wins on Sunday, files for divorce on Monday.
