A couple of scars, Inky. He got his face sliced up in a car accident when he was two. Must have been quite the mess, considering the evidence twenty-some years later.

This is a fun match. I like the movement and back and forth.

As Webster pointed out with the pre-PK puke, I was hoping Henry would be taking the shot.

It is a fun match, but I'm afraid I must agree with the announcers that Portugal needs to STFU and just play hard if they want to come back and win this one. After almost a month of watching the World Cup, I'm pretty tired of soccer whining in general.

    WTF Barthez!?!

Barthez returned to the form that got him benched and removed from Man U. Portugal should have been pounding balls at him long range.

    What a game!

Congrats France.  Never would have anticipated a France-Italy final, but here it is. Yeah, Portugal should have been just shooting like hell. But it didn't happen.

I think Germany is going to tear up Portugal for third place. It will still be a fun game to watch, though.

Italy v France is a game that has a ton of intrigue. Zidane playing extremely well right now. Henry was making moves in the box. Then you flip over to Totti and Del Piero. Wow.

Barthez v. Buffon... well, Buffon is by far the better keeper and I think that is what will make the game. This is, of course, dependent upon Italy not fouling Henry in the box.

I'm looking forward to watching the finals in the North End and watching my Italian friends cry when their team loses.

They play a match to decide third place? Why am I not surprised.

  10. Germany takes third place.
Italy-France. Italy hasn't allowed a goal throughout the tourney. Zidane is magical. I can see this one going to pk's

Well, good. Now I have a team to root for in each game this weekend. I would've been horrified at a Portugal-Italy "Greg Louganis" final. And if there would've been a Germany v France game, I would much prefer it to be the final.

    So Saturday: Go Deutschland. [IMG]
    Sunday: Go Frogs. [IMG]

Not quite a great game, but certainly a lot of effort on both sides.  France went into the shell too early, but both Pauletta and Figo were dead after about the 55th minute.

Barthez is a circus (and would have been called for a carry in volleyball), but did you see how quick he was after Saha had the stupid giveaway?

And the third place game is of no importance to either team.  Maybe Chewy will get off of the bench for Germany.
