Borgetti out. That sucks for Mexico.

Some of those matches came when the team was already eliminated from advancing, though. I'm pretty sure both Russia and Cameroon were out in '94 when Oleg Salenko went nuts and scored five goals.

Angola has been one of the surprises so far. It fought Portugal to a 1-0 score in the first match

Right you are about Salenko, but all those other teams had something to play for (Spain didn't know it was eliminated until about the 80th minute, after which they scored three goals).

Which should have leveled the match at 1. Somebody want to tell me why Ivory Coast didn't get a PK when the Netherlands fullback grabbed the IC player across the front of the shoulders in the box?

Refs are very sensitive to calling PKs when a player doesn't have the ball. And even if the guy does, the ref is still hesitant if the foul isn't too rough.

    It is very weak.

Angola deserves a point out of this match. I'm rooting for a 0-0 tie.

You got your tie. 0-0 full time.

Wow. That was a great performance by Angola, esp. shorthanded at the end.

So, did I hear Rob Stone right: The Angola keep doesn't play for anyone right now? Crazy. Guy played well today, especially that last save.

Inky, you got your wish. I'm a bit annoyed. I was really pulling for Mexico to at least eek out a win.

That Angola keeper is a risk-taker and erratic from my perspective. I wouln't want him.

But Rob does want that GK his co-ed club team in Tampa.

How many times did he mention living in Tampa? Twice, that I specifically remember. That one and one about his HD television "gathering dust back home in Tampa." Is he working with the Chamber of Commerce or something?
