You know, I never really considered Group C to be the Group of Death, as was commonly reported. I know the rankings might average out to be a little higher. But I thought Italy and Ghana were better than their rankings, making Group E that much harder (also thought U.S. was worse than its ranking, but still top 15).

Ghana's win just validates it. Question is, how bad does it make the U.S. look that they got absolutely manhandled by the Czechs on Monday?

"If you don't give my futbol back,
I'm going to get my dad on you.
I only kicked it over your fence and broke a silly gnome or two.

    Repeat first versy

Eanie Meanie run away, meanie run away.
    Steal my futbol, run away,
I'll get it back some way.

    Repeat second verse,
    Repeat second verse.
    Repeat second verse."

Fuckin' Uruguayan official. WTF on Mastroeni's red card? Are you kidding me?

I'll take a 1-1 halftime, though. Thoroughly impressed with how the US has picked up the pace of place today after the debacle on Monday.

Thread was red-carded by the official, who appears not to understand he can call a foul without using a card.

I was wondering that myself. I'm really proud of the U.S. team today. They're playing like they want to win, even with the referees sticking it to them.

Gooch is just having a terrible tournament. Terrible.

And Pope's days are numbered with this team ... he's old and seems to have lost it.

Any good central defenders in college?

What the hell? Why can we have 1,000 masturbatory threads where chicks act like attention whores, but two soccer threads is too many?

I'll say this for the Italians ... they do the stretcher job better than any team I've ever seen.
Who's coaching this team, Frank Leahy?!?!?!

I ask again: What does a tie do for the U.S. here? Anything? Is it really no better than a loss?
