I know what you're gettin' at buck. Just havin fun. Shoulda gone to the blue font, maybe.

My point was that if you think this is bad, Federer may well top it.

    Regardless, a pretty serious beatdown.

Sharapova still looks overwhelmed, like this was as much of a mental beatdown as a physical one. I hope this doesn't have a long-term effect.

Imagine what Serena could do if she was "in shape"

S'chick nailed it. Over-the-air means network TV, which you can pick up with a handy-dandy set of rabbit ears.

It's funny. I didn't even realize that over-the-air was such a big deal anymore.

    Buckdub,

Not sure about O'Neill, but Arantxa was not the No. 1 player in the world when she received her beatdown. To be unseeded and treat the world's top-ranked tennis player as if she were a wildcard is just amazing -- I don't care if she is one of the world's best herself. It's a rare talent than can just turn on a game like that.

And yes, Dick Enberg did indeed say, "Maria Sharapova has never received such a spanking... (pause) in a Grand Slam final."

It's not really, except that every other tennis grand slam is broadcast on either NBC or CBS.

What a frickin' beatdown. That was one of the most dominating performances I've seen in a Grand Slam final. Serena made the world's top player look like an overwhelmed first-round wild card.

    Point well-taken.

Just hard to wrap my mind around the idea that an unseeded Serena isn't still one of the world's best players, and one of the top women's players ever. Maria's not even in the same galaxy yet, world No. 1 or not.

Serena is similar to Tiger. When they're both playing at their best, they are unbeatable. When Serena gets back in top form (if she isn't there already), her best is still far better than everyone else's best.

Did I just hear Fowler drop a Stolichnaya crack?
