    Gawd, I hate Cliff Drysdale.
When you watch as much tennis as I do, you quickly figure out that he says the same freaking things every week, factual or not.
Agassi's retirement is hitting him hard.

At least P-Mac and Carillo aren't flat-out making fun of him on air, as they were doing last year. Probably got the memo.

Carillo was really, really cranky the first few days, and had especially bad hair. Looked like a bad case of jet lag (or maybe menopause). She's kicking into gear now.

That might have been the first match I saw Roddick actually play tennis. He impressed me. Probably too scared to have Jimbo Connors fly all the way there, mourning his mom, only to have to turn right around after just one match. :) Glad I got up at 3:30 in the morning to watch him.

Anyone who wants to take an Uzi to Chris Fowler, who has declared himself the tennis genius of all time to the point where he starts snapping at the real experts who disagree with him, be my guest.

I love listening to Drysdale's voice but 'scribe is right. He hasn't said anything useful in a long while.

Fifith set of Nalbaldian and Grosjean in a battle of former obscure top 10 players. Always entertaining when two old guys like this try to grind through in hopes of one last shot at glory.

Did Grosjean got into the top 10?

He was actually Top 5 at one point in '02.

  5. nalbandian reached the semis of both the Australian and French last year, didn't he? he's 24 and was ranked 8th going in... how on earth is he an old guy trying to "grind through in hopes of one last shot at glory?"

Marat-Andy last night. Ginepri-Blake tonight. It's great to live in my world right now.

Geez Blake is frustrating to watch. Just rolling through the second set and the rash of unforced errors come out of the woodwork. I can't tell if Ginepri is playing well or just keeping the ball in play and forcing Blake to make shots. Up a set and a break, Blake should have put this set away easily.

Yeah Blake has went back in control. Point is you can't have those mental lapses against the better men's players. Struggling for about five games against Ginepri can be overcome, but struggle for a few games against Hewitt in the next round (outcome pending) and he'll be on his way out.

There's no reason for him not to have ran that second set off 6-2 and be heading back to the hotel by now.

Roddick-Ancic doesn't suck, either. It's good to be us, sleep-deprived or not. :)

Wish I lived in the Pacific Time Zone these days.

Hard to watch these 3:30 a.m. matches and be at the club to play by 7:30 a.m.

Heck, the Roddick-Safin match was still going on when I had to leave the house the other day.
