Nice slide, Vlad. Way not to bring home a run and keep the inning alive.

I look forward to Yankees hitters feasting on Royals pitching, thanks for reminding me they are coming to the Bronx.

Hmm. Last I checked, it was tied.

Congrats to the Cubs. They've played great since coming back to beat Colorado whenever that was (the real turning point for them, not that overrated Piniella rant against the Braves).

But keep piling up the karma, overjoyed Cubs fans. That's all that can be said right now.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating: I can't believe I am actually having to care whether the Mariners win a game or not. I never imagined they would be in the playoff hunt come August 1.

Lou and Torre if both the Cubs and Yankees make the playoffs.

Seattle escaped a big jam there. Bases loaded one out and Morrow gets out of it.

Yeah, the talentless Yankees and Cubs. Torre and Pinella have done marvelous jobs getting career years out of journeymen, has-beens and never-weres.

Well, Torre has had to ride out a tremendous amount of injuries, a terrible start and a 14.5 game deficit, so just because they have a high payroll doesn't mean he shouldn't be considered.

Looking forward to one hell of a pennant race.

Yeah, the poor Yankees. They don't have the Wild Card to fall back on, should they not win the division.

    Give me a break.

He would have to be considered, but if they lose the AL East for the first time since 1997, it would like an odd selection given how much tinkering Francona's had to do with that lineup (Crisp injuries, Lugo and Drew slumps, Manny and Papi not being anywhere close to their prime forms) and his bullpen to give the Red Sox enough to win games.

Good point, though I don't think Francona has any problems with his bullpen. Okajima and Papelbon have been nails all year and Delcarmen has come on strong.
