    He's Johan Santana.

Unless he says "I am an investor in Bad Newz Kennels," there's nothing Santana can say that will minimize the amount of teams willing to trade the farm in order to get him in his walk year.

That was a huge game. Matsui booted a ground ball I could've fielded to give the Cubs hope, and they prolonged what became a seven-game win streak.

You've got to understand Bubbler, we haven't been able to really care about the Cubs in August since 2004. So we have three years of baseball zeal stored up, and I for one am bursting with it. I feel like a kid again.

Haven't heard from our friend on this thread since that bold statement, have we?

Who was it? I can't remember.

Nevermind. I found it. And it was who I thought it was.

    - Was Torre somewhere else during the terrible start? Doesn't that count? They had a ton of injuries, especially in the SPs, that's not on him. But much of the BP problems are his fault, Nieves was his fault, Cairo at 1st was his fault. Should we reward the man if he is somehow able to overcome his own incompetence?

    - Let's not go nuts congrtaulating Francona for piecing a BP together out of nothing. It looked like nothing, because they moved the best young closer in the game out of it. They changed their minds - that's not MacGyver. They got lucky on Okijima - had no idea he'd be this good, and Delcarmen matured into something good. Give the scouts credit, and give the manager some for using Papelbon in some non-save or non-9th inning spots, but he had nothing to do with how good they became.

    Yes it does.

He had about $120 million in healthy payroll players in reserve to pull them out.

    I made no bold statement.

Just the facts, you fucking moron.

    Learn to read.

I'm glad Gordon hit one that helped his team. He's hitting .173 late-and-close. That's better than 1 for 6! What a fucking gamer!

Barsuk-Here's to hoping the Cubbies and the Red Sox meet in October. It would be good for baseball.

To those of you already giving the Manager of the Year award to Lou Piniella, he will surely be a candidate. But it's not going to be so cut-and-dried. Consider the job Bud Black is doing in San Diego and don't forget Bob Melvin with that unimpressive lineup in Arizona. All I'm saying is let's wait and see.

    Wasn't that supposed to happen in 2003? [/bartman] [/boone]

No love for Ned Yost? Yeah, the Brewers have allowed the Cubs to run them down, but they're in uncharted waters with this whole first-place thing. If they manage to win the division, he has to get some consideration.
