And of course Myers gives up a double on an 0-2 pitch. The Royals just may win this game.

Well, 'gola, I was in the car during the first inning and John and Suzyn had me believing we were about to witness the second coming of Bob Gibson/Sandy Koufax/Cy Young/Walter Johnson all rolled into one.

Then I got home and put on YES and saw him constantly missing -- by a lot -- with his breaking ball and even the pathetic Royals realized they could sit on and hit his fastball.

Myers comes in, Gload RBI doubles, 6-6

    Hughes 4 2/3, 6R, 7H 2BB, 5K, 92 pitches

Myers just got Lord High Alex Gordon to strike out to end the inning, but not before the Royals scored four times to tie the game.

The problem with too many Yankees fans is they think because Hughes has a high ceiling he is going to come in and just dominate. He is a rookie, this was only his third major league start and the fact is he is going to struggle at times and struggle mightily at times.
I'd still rather have him start than Kei Igawa. Igawa would have probably given up the lead in the second inning and walked 9 people to boot.

And the Yankees get the lead right back. I am really like Wilson Betemit and the new/old version of Robinson Cano, who can actually hit the ball.

Yankee fans thought Hughes was going to come in and be the ace? Who are these people? Most Yankees fans I know hoped that the kid would be able to give them five innings while learning his way around the majors.

Seriously, 'gola, Sterling actually said the Yankees didn't have to make a trade for a pitcher because they knew they were getting a "great one" back into the rotation this week.
He also said Hughes coming off the DL was a much bigger move than the Red Sox made in getting Gagne because the Yankees "added a top of the line starter."
I almost drove off the road!

Well, the Yankees fans on NYYfans.com sure think so. Of course, most of them are idiots.

That is utter nonsense. I would have loved it if the Yankees acquired Gagne. The Red Sox bullpen is one of the best in baseball with Gagne, Okajima and Pap-smear.

NYYfans.com? Those people make the Sons of Sam Horn posters look like Mensa members.

It's good to see that Sterling's lobotomy took.
