I can't imagine why Piazza isn't a sought-after player nowadays. Sometimes pride is a bad thing.

  4. I got a chuckle from Larry Stone's comment on the Cubs in his weekly power rankings: Kerry Wood takes brief respite from DL, activated until next injury

    -----------

But I really think he's back for good this time.

And I think Santa's going to bring me a pony this year.

I read on sportsline.com that Giambi may return tomorrow. That should make things interesting and decrease Damon's playing time even further. I also heard the Yankees are about to call up one of their uber pitching prospects - Joba Chamberlain (love the name) - to be a middle reliever.
    Should be interesting.

I hope he's up for good, too. But I think you've got a better shot of winning the lottery, sadly. The youngest to get to 1,000 Ks. That dude could have been the next Nolan Ryan had the string of injuries not hit him.

  7. Ooh, good idea. Think I'll play the Pick Four tomorrow. 1908 sounds like a good choice.

What could have been? Kerry Wood, Mark Prior and Ken Griffey Jr. Damn. This week could have been even cooler if those three had stayed healthy or if the Yankees pulled within half a game of the division.

To my friend The Good Doctor.... the Cubs are dead. Glavine has 300. Eat shit.

To my friend Buckweaver ... If the Braves had matched the Mets offer 5 years ago, Glavine would have 300 in an Atlanta uniform. Their loss. Traitor? NO.
He gave the Braves every chance and they rejected him. Get over it.

spnited, you might be a doddering old fool, but you hit that one on the nails.

    Atlanta made their choice.

    They can live with it.

    Hey, I'm no novelist_wannabe. ;D

I don't hold it against him. I know exactly what the Braves could have done to keep him -- give him that guaranteed fourth year that the Mets gave him. He would've taken less money to stay in Atlanta, but all he wanted was the guaranteed fourth. They wouldn't budge on that, so he went to New York.

Just sucks that he had to win his 300th wearing that interlocking N and Y on his cap. But hell, I still root for the guy. I just don't root for that shit-ass team he plays for. :D

Zeke, my Twinkie loving friend, I am not a doddering old fool.
I might be a slightly drunk old fool at this point, but I still know my shit!
