That is exactly the point. Once you get there, you have a puncher's chance. The Yankees pitching is far better than last year's Cards, and probably as good or better than Cleveland, & any of the likely NL playoff teams except SD. We'll see.

I remember...and you were right in the contest of that particular post. But if I remember correctly, you brought it up by criticizing him for getting knocked around by the Yankees (kinda silly the way they are hitting right now). And as I understood it, you were calling out the Royals for spending on him.

I was responding to the entire argument as well as that particular post.

Headbutt, I'm with you on Bedard and, in response to whoever wrote that he won't get much consideration because his team isn't in contention, that has nothing to do with Cy Young voting, or at least shouldn't. The award is designed only to recognize the best pitcher in his league for that particular year, unlike MVP, which recognizes VALUE to team. (That's how Steve Carlton won it with a last-place team).

I think Bedard belongs in the discussion with Beckett, Sabathia, Lackey and Halladay, and I don't know who I would vote for. See me in October.

I'd love to face Detroit right now. They've been flat-awful.

  7. This is Corey Patterson's little brother, and he's played the last 10 games in the outfield at Iowa.

That's right. They've beat up on the crap of the American League, and now they'll have to run through the gauntlet.

  9. Besides Lee and Ramirez, the Cubs lineup tonight: Theriot, Cedeno, Murton, DeRosa, Pagan, Kendall and Hill.

    Yikes!

Someone who actually knows confirm or correct:
I think an option covers the whole season. You can yo yo a guy as much as you want during the same season and it counts as one. Try to do it when a guy is out of options and you have to run him through waivers first.

Moddy is correct. An option year covers the whole year, so Pie could be sent up and down for three years without clearing waivers.

Also, as Moddy said, Pie would have to clear waivers every time he was sent down, if he was out of waivers.

And if he's hitting the ball as well as he's said to be, there's no way he'd clear waivers when Soriano comes back.
