Kevin Gregg sure knows how to make things interesting. With a 4-2 lead in the ninth, Gregg gives up a double and a single before striking out Todd Helton. Atkins followed with a single before Gregg struck out Hawpe, walked Tulowitski to load the bases. Then he strikes out Torrealba to end the game.

Gregg strikes out the side for the save. But if he keeps doing that, he's not going to close many more games this season.

And Bonds flies out to right. Hank might sleep well tonight.

Shawn Green. How in the world is he a starting outfielder?

I don't see what's wrong with A-Rod, but it seems the rest of the team is smoking hot while he's ice cold. Maybe that's a good thing...

Excellent answer. Once Milledge and Gomez are ready to start, the corners of the outfield will receive a face-lift.

    Dear Lou:

Felix Pie can hit .240 and he's a better centerfielder than Jacque Jones.

    Sincerely,

    Your Pitching Staff

    I thought Gomez was traded?

Jose Reyes now has two bunt hits in the game. And Luis Castillo now has his first double play in a Mets uniform. Beautiful.

No, he's on the DL with a fractured left hand. The Mets gave up two minor leaguers for Castillo.

How about the Brewers' Manny Parra? The kid threw 6 1-3 innings of relief, giving up one run against a good offense after the starting pitcher was completely ponied for seven in 2 2-3 innings.

Or Angel Pagan, for that matter.
