The sadness that is the Tampa Bay Devil Ray franchise. From today's game notes:

Attendance was announced as 36,048, giving the Devil Rays consecutive sellouts at home for the first time in franchise history.

 

Adam Wainwright is in the process of doing to the Phillies what he did to Carlos Beltran in the bottom of the ninth of Game 7 NLCS.

 

Of course the capacity at Tropicana Field is 43,772, according to the boxscore, so it's not really been full to capacity either of the last two days.

 

The Devil Rays just had two posts about the team in the span of just over an hour for the first time in franchise history.

 

Cards have ripped the Phils for 5 HRs and lead 9-0 in the 7th.

 

Pujols has hit two homers, the second of which was driven towards Trenton.

 

When was the last time Bonds went 0 for 5 in consecutive games?

10 years ago?

 

Probably pre-Balco.

 

I bet LaRussa wishes he'd pissed of Albert Pujols a lot sooner after watching him hit four home runs in the last three days since he didn't get to pinch-hit for Aaron Freaking Rowand with the game on the line.

 

If Pujols ends up with 45-50 homers, it'll turn out to be a brilliant pre-calculated move.
