Griffey got his 2,500th hit today, along with having 587 home runs. Had he been healthy from 2001 through 2004, would he be among the top three or four players of all time right now -- with six years to play, so he said a couple weeks ago?

Lasting's had about the same chance to drive that pitch out of the park as I do of hooking up with a supermodel tonight.

I didn't see the pitch, but I'm guessing not very high?

I put this one on Willie. How can you leave Smith, a rookie, in to pitch to Blum with the game on the line in the 8th when you have Feliciano, your best reliever other than Wagner, ready in the bullpen? That could have been a huge psychological win for the Mets after Wright's 3-run jack, and Willie lets a rookie piss it all away. For chrissake.

Luckily for the Mets, the Phillies and Braves lost their games, too.

Hoffman threw him nothing but changeups.

Because we know Willie is not a very good in-game manager

I've always thought people were too hard on him in that regard, but I have to admit, this was a head-scratcher. My 10-year-old would have known enough to pull Smith and put in Feliciano in that spot. The Mets announcers, including Ron Darling, dropped the ball by not dealing with it, too.

Red Sox are now 7-8 against the Royals the last two years. Love it, love it, love it.
