  1. What's funny is that Rowand and Victorino have combined for about 25 homers and 80 RBIs, which is what you SHOULD get out of Pat Burrell per year, but clearly aren't. I like the speedy line-up with Bourn hitting second and Victornio's better bat down at the six-spot, but in Citizens Bank Park, you still need at least one more power hitter. I don't know if J-Roll is always gonna be good for 25-30 homers every year.

That's true, but mabye once Burrell is gone the Phillies will realize you can't only score via the long ball. I think whatever power he lacks, Bourn will make those runs up with his speed on the bases and defense in left field. This is only relative if they can sign Rowand in the offseason, which isn't a slam dunk.

Figure they have Garcia's 10 million, Lieber's 7 million, Nunez's 2.5 million off the books. That's 19. Give 12 to Howard and 5 to Rowand and spend the other 2 on a viable set-up man or a good role player off the bench who can start 2 games or so a week.

Um, I think Ian Snell wants out of Pittsburgh.

"I'm starting to break. I'm getting stressed out. I don't know about these other guys, but I just want to win. I don't want to be called a loser. Man, even my family calls our team losers, and I don't want anyone to say that about our team."

Six earned runs in four innings pitched, including a home run given up to the opposing pitcher, and that's the day he decides to bitch? STFU Snell

Well, that's all well and good. Who exactly, then, is going to hold the opponent to fewer than eight runs? Because here's the rotation, if that's what the Phils do in the offseason:

    Hamels: The fucking truth
Myers? Who knows -- maybe his shoulder "strain" will be better by then
Moyer: Eleventybillion years old. Has ERA above 5.
Eaton: ERA of 5.84 is among worst of NL starters.
Kendrick: We'll see how he does the second time through the league.

My thinkinng is if they gave someone like Eaton $24.5 million for 3 years what are they going to have to give up to get someone good? And once Burrell is gone (after 2008) that's another $14 million off the books so maybe by then there will be a good pitcher on the market.

The Phillies top prospect (Carlos Carrasco, 21, who is at AA and has pitched well in four of six starts) might be ready by '09, when Moyer's deal is up. I'm going to stick with Kendrick and even throw in Durbin until they prove otherwise (and I know Durbin was waived four times in 17 days, but he's given up 1 run in his last 15 innings).

The original point is they have to keep Rowand and once Bourn is a starter by '09 along with Victorino they'll have the ability to run down a lot of balls in the outfield.

Not to help out king, but I believe it's like "gaydar", as in, you can tell a gay man from a straight one from a mile away. I think king is saying that spnited can't tell king is being snarky.

    or something.

If king ever masters the English language, please let us know.

Until that time, thanks for the attempted translation.
