What's the present? Another playoff run coming up short?

I never thought Linebrink would be worth a No. 3 prospect and two more top 25-30 prospects.

I'm not 100 percent positive, Gutter and Bubbs, but I think your boys just got a horrible deal.

About Harang going 10 innings the other night:

Hard to say, HP. It's no McGriff-for-three-stiffs deal, but Milwaukee already has a nice young core and the NL is ripe for the taking. I think the Brewers can afford to get rid of a few minor leaguers to get a top setup guy for this year's stretch run.

Oh, and a little further east, Glavine is an inning and a Wags away from No. 299 ...

Is there going to be a record for doubles this year?

    Glavine's getting closer to 299.

They had a top setup guy earlier this season. And now Turnbow sucks. Who's to say the deal will work out? It's kinda sad when a deal like that makes ripples.

I hear you about the NL being there for the taking, but Linebrink hasn't been great this season, and he's been HORRIBLE on the road, where nearly every park is smaller the Petco. I just don't get this move.

And for the Padres to mix up one of the best bullpens in baseball shows what kind of deal they think they have here, in my opinion. Then again, Towers was stupid enough to trade for the worst defensive catcher in baseball, and it is absolutely not a coincidence that the Cubs have played much better and the Padres have played much worse since the Barrett deal.

Wagner closes it out. No. 299 for Glavine.

Borowski strikes out 2 in a perfect ninth to complete the gem for Carmona. Beckett suffers second consecutive one-run loss. Sorry BYH.
