Has no one discussed Matt Wise NAILING Pedro Lopez directly in the face with a pitch?

    Nasty. Blood everywhere.

I flipped over while they were still trying to get him on the cart. Didn't see what happened though. It's pretty hard to hit a guy in the face with a pitch. Lopez must have froze.

Again, Aramis Ramirez has become a pretty damn good defensive third baseman. I never thought that would happen, especially AFTER he signed a long-term deal.

I'm surprised The Fucking Genius hasn't had one of his pitchers drill somebody tonight. Probably saving that for tomorrow.

Duh. Today wasn't the right time to do it. The next time he asks someone to, THAT will be the perfect time.

ARod with a two-run homer gives him 35 on the season and 102 RBIs. If the score holds up the Yankees will close to within 6 1/2 of the Red Sox.

And if the Cubs hold on, they'll be within two of the Brewers, who lost today.

Matsui homers and Phillips hits an RBI double to put the Yankees up 7-1.
Red Sox fans are you getting nervous yet?

After semi-professional effort by Gil the overpaid and overrated Meche that at least kept them in the game for 7 innings, the shitass Royals -- starting with the aformentioned overpaid and overrated Meche -- revert to their unmitigated suckitude and get blown out again.

Do the Yankees have to play a major-league team any time soon?

I don't think until Aug. 10 or 13 or something. Though the Triple-A Royals did take four-of-six on the road at Detroit and Boston before coming home to get hammered by the Yankees, so it isn't like they totally suck. Well, maybe.

Things are going exactly how Bobby Cox and Bruce Bochy ordered right now: Both starters should last 7 innings.
