I agree with pretty much all of this ... except that I'm not sure whether Salty or Loney will become the better player. I think both will be excellent. I really like both.

One thing's for sure ... the Rangers will have to royally fuck up to not get a shitload of talent for Tex. The Dodgers and Braves both have talented, young position prospects coming out of their ears.

And the Braves HAVE to make a move. They have to. They can still win the NL, but they have to add a quality starter or a big power bat. They have the pieces to make a move for this year without completely sacrificing the future.

1997 Giants? or 1997 White Sox?

Nope, but he was the last guy off the bench in the 15-inning marathon later that series. Pinch-hit strikeout.

Ahem. Um, four. And I don't miss those days one bit. But I'm glad I lived through them. I can't wait to tell my kids that I saw a team win 14 consecutive division titles. It will never happen again, providing the Red Sox hold their ground and end the Yankees' stretch before it grows any further.

Yes. Absolutely. A hex on the Yankees would be useful right about ... NOW.

Oh, they've officially been in trouble for awhile now, at least since this happened: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/147344_mari07.html

There's nothing I hate more than uninformed Yankees fans. You know the ones I'm talking about: They wear the hats (whichever color matches what they're wearing that day), don't know the score and can name a handful of players. That's where the majority of my venom toward the Yankees stems. I say, for nothing more than shutting up the ignorant Yankees fans, the Bombers must fall soon.

I agree. My brother is a Yankee fan, while I like the Sox. I don't get on him as bad because he goes to games, knows the entire team (not just the superstars) and isn't completely obnoxious.
The people I hate are the people that automatically turn to the past. "We have 26 championships, how many do you have again?" What a load of shit.

    Why?
Last night you were proclaiming how there was no way the Red Sox would lose the division to the Yankees, what has changed?
Well, Ortiz returned and went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts and a pop-out to end the game.

Not defending the idiots by any means, but it isn't like all teams have these fans.
I know first-hand that the Mariners have a bunch of idiotic fans and I am guaranteeing the Mets have as many as the Yankees, or they would if they had been as successful in the last 11 years.
