I've seen the epidemic grow to the Mets' fan base in the last couple years, so I'm not denying that it happens. But I haven't seen it any more obvious than with the Yankees and Braves. It definitely has a lot to do with success. Regardless, it's annoying as hell. I always have more respect for someone who can tell me what number Andy Stankiewicz wore.

The Yankees -- make that the Red Sox -- are scaring the shit out of me. Literally.

And headbutt, is Eric Bedard the best pitcher in the American League right now? (By the way, I also like the job the unheralded Trembley is doing. Give him the job.)

If, and not as a big an if as it appeared a few weeks ago, the Yankees make the playoffs, Torre is Manager of the Year.

I wish that were literally true, I've been back up for a few days now.

I agree on all points. As long as Torre doesn't start him everyday, he will be valuable especially as a guy off the bench. He is a better bat than Cairo or Thompson or Duncan or Phillips coming off the bench.

Edit: Plus maybe he did a few cycles of HGH while he was out and will go on a home run tear when he comes back.

Oliver Perez blows up in the sixth, allowing five runs including a two-run home run to Josh Phelps. 5-2 Pirates.

Neither the Reds or Brewers are televising this game, but on mlb.tv they are showing the stadium TV feed with the Reds' radio.

This is where mlb.tv beats Extra Innings. According to the Extra Innings Web site, EI subscribers can't watch this game.

I am busting out possibly the first LOL of my SportsJournalists.com career for the Pirates batting Cesar Izturis first.

I don't say this very often about any MLB team, but I'm so glad that I'm not a fan of the Pirates.

Have the Cubs won a World Series in your lifetime? The Pirates have won one in mine. :)

Would it surprise you to know that I'm 101 years old?
