Another escape job by KC. Stunning play by Tony Pena Jr.

Naw ... REALLY??? Damn ... oh shucks, no wonder. My calendar still says 1985. Thanks for the tip.

Alex Gordon with a garbage-time triple.

Are you watching on TV? On another board someone said Melky should have caught Gordon's fly ball and I was wondering if that was true?

Pretty tough play. It would have been a pretty nice catch. Makeable for sure, but tough play nonetheless.

Thanks for clarifying. I read it on a Red Sox site, so of course they claimed it was catchable.

Never thought the combo of Jorge De La Rosa and Zach Greinke would be what finally shutdown the Yankees offensive surge.

De La Rosa has been strange like this. One game earlier this year, he gave up 10 hits and no runs.

Alex Gordon just bombed a homer (garbage time I should add). 7-0 K.C.

EDIT - Holy shit. Tony Pena Jr. just walked for the first time in 244 plate appearances.

Holy shit, indeed. As for De La Rosa, I know the Yankees couldn't possibly hit .400 for the 20th straight game, but still, a fairly gritty performance.

I'm guessing this team will have a different look by the time August rolls around. Dotel and Sanders will be gone... and I highly doubt if Grudzielanek will stay too. At that point, I think KC needs to either shit or get off the pot with Grienke. The kid needs to be closing games or starting them. You don't draft middle relievers with your top draft pick... and least teams not called Kansas City normally don't.

    Well, it couldn't last forever.
But, surprisingly I am happy with taking 3-of-4 from the Royals and remaining just 4 1/2 games behind wild-card leading Cleveland. And even though the Red Sox won, they are only 7 1/2 up with 6 games between the teams left.
