True about Encarnacion, but Freel was the co-ruler. Three ridiculous catches in CF, and the bare-handed pick up and strike to nail Jones at the plate in the 9th was one of the best plays I've seen this season.

ALAS ... Cordero sucked again today, and D-Lee just went yard off Harang — who he OWNS, by the way — to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead in the first.

I just peed my pants, friendly archnemesis. The O-Faces are coming.

The 3-week Iguchi reign begins in Philadelphia...0-0, BB, R

  3. o.k., so the Pirates get to J.D. Durbin and promptly give up six runs in the bottom of the 5th. Pops and Roberto Clemente are looking down in disgust.

Make that 8 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Chris Coste better stay around.

Royals hang on and are 12-10 this month. One more win and they clinch a (gasp!) second straight winning month.

And they're still in last place.

Best last-place team in baseball now! In the best division, too!

Dave Trembley's Orioles are one win away from sweeping the Yankees at home. They've got a winning record against the bombers this year, and Daniel Cabrera and his Jekyll and Hide bad self on the hill.

Saw my first game at U.S. Cellular Field last night. Glad I got to the park early to check it all out because the game only lasted a shade over two hours for a 6 p.m. start (a 2-0 White Sox win over the Blue Jays). Hell, the fireworks the White Sox provided the fans after the game weren't even done with dark skies.

I would think the uber classy Sox fans would provide far more entertainment than any Sox game this season.
