Braves' beat guy and Irishman Davey O'Brien thinks Tex to the Braves is essentially a done deal. I agree that if they get Gagne or C.J. Wilson, then they should include Andrus and be very, very happy with the deal.

I'm pretty sure Soriano just lost a 2-run homer because Joe West couldn't get his fat ass down the line to watch that Reds fan CLEARLY deflecting a ball that was over the yellow line.

If Joe West can't get down the line and get in better position to make that call, he shouldn't be an umpire.

Agreed. It should be 4-0 Cubs.

Hey, Joe's lost a step since he was a quarterback at Elon many years ago, huh?

Similar call yesterday in the Angels-Tigers game. Garrett Anderson hits a deep fly to right. Young kid reaches over the railing and makes a one-handed catch.

Umpire Ed Montague said he saw the kids hands above the railing. Although TV replays clearly showed it below. That doesn't matter tho, the glove was still reached out in the field of play.

At the time it was 3-3 and the homer made it 6-3. Even if it was a ground rule double, like it should have been, Angels would have still led 4-3 or 5-3.

The point is that the umpires got the call wrong. Seems like that has been happening a lot more lately.

That's the one call that makes me wish there was instant replay in baseball. What if that happened in the playoffs?

Elon was indeed the Fightin' Christians. I guess North Carolina has cornered the market on oxymoronic religious nicknames with that one (although it got changed) and Demon Deacons.

Padres lead Astros 9-0 and are still batting in the top of the first.

At what point does Jason Jennings get DFA'd (like Ensberg was today)? It's already 9-0 Padres (or Paders) in the first inning.
