An undefeated team with a BCS bowl victory being ranked in the polls behind a team with a BCS bowl loss would be yet more proof the system is about as rigged as an Afghan election.
The only reason I can come up with as to why anyone not making a buck off the BCS system would defend it is that they like a format where their opinion means more than actual results.

Not when you think about it logically.

Alabama and Texas are in the BCS title game because it was determined that they are the Nos. 1-2 teams in the country.

Now, you may not agree with that or with the formula that decided it, but they ARE in the game for that very reason.

Thus, the winner of the game is No. 1. The loser is No. 2.

Thinking about it logically, if Texas loses after beating no top-10 teams then they should not be ranked ahead of Boise.

Boise State doesn't have anything left to prove to me.

All season long, people have been on here ragging about their defense. Yet in their two biggest wins of the season, the Broncos allowed a combined 18 points to Oregon and TCU offenses which scored in droves all year.

The Alabama-Texas winner is your national champion. Boise State is the undefeated runner-up.

What happens on the field matters.

The No. 1 and 2 ranking includes the possibility that they might win their bowl game. Once you've taken that possibility away, they lose ground.

And Utah had no chance at Alabama last year, either. How do we know how well these teams would do against the likes of Florida unless they actually play? Both those teams, especially TCU, have pretty darn good defenses. If anything that is an equalizer. TCU gave up a pick 6 and one real drive, which was aided by a fake punt. Boise had TCU, which scored a lot of points this year, completely out of whack. It was a good defensive game by two pretty darn good teams. If Florida and Alabama played the same game people would probably be talking about how great a show it was.

Dan Wetzel at Yahoo! already talking about the possibility of Boise heading to the title game next year: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=dw-boisestate010410&prov=yhoo&type=lgns.

Returning 21 of 22 starters and playing VT and Oregon State certainly makes it seem like they'd have a case if they can run the table.

Any close game was going to be used to justify dragging both teams down.

And no matter what the result, you'd use this as justification to proclaim them every bit the equal of BCS AQ teams and deserving of the same scheduling courtesies that established top-flight programs have.

Every time I watch Boise St I get more respect for Chris Peterson and his staff. That is a well coached team that is fun to watch.

They had a great game plan last night. Came out throwing deep to get DB's and LBs back on their heals.

Clearly they should end up as number 2.
