Boise is an established top-flight program.

The Boise State program now is far superior to what it was in 2005, the year you speak of.

The Boise State head coach now is far superior to the guy who was the head coach in 2005, the year you speak of, as is its quarterback.

There's no guarantee Boise State will be better in 2010 thatn it was in 2009, even though it returns virtually every starter. But as someone who sees them play on a semi-regular basis, the Broncos are far, far better than they were in 2005.

The 2005 you speak of was the only year since 2002 (inclusive) that Boise State lost four games. That one season has little bearing on the strength of the program has a whole, just as the 2007 season does not define the Nick Saban coaching era at Alabama.

Think the option loses some of its effectiveness when a team (say, Iowa) has had a month to prepare for it?

If Les Miles can effectively scheme against it, then anyone can.

I did think about the beating Mizzou took when asking that question. But, it sure seems like it should make all the difference in the world. After all, coaches always seem to say that what makes the option so tough is that you rarely ever see it, so you only spend just that week preparing for it.

You don't come into the OB like that and just run the option.

And the announcer just called Marvin McNutt, Marvin McKnight.

Also, it is good to see Ricky Stanzi is the quarterback instead of Drew Tate with an 8th year of eligibility.

The version of hell that wakes me up at night is the one where I only get the 11 a.m. ESPN games where dogshit, boring Iowa is playing a revolving schedule of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa State for eternity.

It must be worse if you have ACC games, GT looks awful.

Then again, Missouri can give up 500 passing yards or 400 rushing yards with equal aplomb.

The organizers of the Jamboree game liked that pick 6.
