Running bowl thread

Last night's game was boring, and so is this.

 

The game last nite was defensive as heck.
This one's got a little more offense.
I thought Boise had more street instincts, for lack of a better term.
It reminded me of the NBA series a few years ago when Boston street-hustled the softer Lakers.
Boise's defense beat up TCU more than TCU's defense beat up Boise.

Both games have been (to me) entertaining, though I wish we'd get a playoff of some kind.
8 teams? Certainly no more than 16, I think.

 

Did Dick Stockton really just say the last time Georgia Tech won a major bowl game was in 1967? Ummm, what about the one that gave them a share of the national title in 1990?

 

Stockton is correct. Tech won the 1990 share by winning the Citrus Bowl. If you think about it, makes sense. Tech was an independent for many years and also the ACC did not have a tie in to one of the traditional major bowls for many years (with major being defined as Orange, Sugar, Cotton*, Rose and Fiesta bowls).

I'd have taken the points there if I were Iowa.
Fake field goal didn't fool anyone.
That said, the Hawkeyes can still easily win this game.

 

Just turned it on ten minutes ago, but what a strange football game. One completion for Georgia Tech. That near safety that just happened. The weakest fake FG I've seen in a long time. Still, Iowa should win.

Solid postseason by the Big Ten. Three 11-win teams this year, two BCS wins, both of which were underdogs.

 

He's wrong about 1967. Tech lost that Orange Bowl game to Florida and Heisman-winning QB Steve Spurrier.

 

Tech last won a major bowl game in 1955.

 

Plus an win over #15 Miami and thisclose to a Northwestern upset of Auburn.

 

Closing thought on the King Orange Jamboree - I was impressed with how the Iowa team carried itself on the big stage.
Nobody was mouthing off or mugging for the cameras.
Nobody's flashing gang symbols or jumping around to draw attention to themselves\.
Everybody was, for the most part, listening to what was being said on the podium.
Calmly listening.
Some might call it boring, but the Iowa fanbase and team looked far better than much of what we see on a weekly basis in big-time college football.
