BTW, how many first place votes did TCU receive in the AP poll this week?

No, that's not the argument at all. The argument is that the PERCEPTION is that they're not as good as the other teams (as you and other seem to be arguing), so they deserve the chance to prove to America that they are as good. I think either of those teams could put on a competitive show against Cincinnati or Florida -- but they'll never get a chance to prove it, and in a lot of people's eyes, that'll mean they're not as good as those teams. It turns it into a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Nothing like Jan. 1 in SoCal. The only tradition left in the college football bowl landscape -- except for four years ago and eight years ago when the national title game was played four days later at night. Oh, and when Oklahoma played in Pasadena on Jan. 1.

Just go to a playoff. It's very easy to do and to keep the bowl landscape. All of this stuff is just cheese.

Iowa would wear them down in the second half. But by that time, TCU would be winning 34-12.

And this comes from a Big Ten enthusiast. I actually like Iowa, but I want TCU and Boise to be successful so we can change this crappy bowl system.

Sugar Bowl got the first pick (by virtue of losing the No. 1 team) and took Florida. Fiesta Bowl got the No. 2 pick (lost the No. 2 team) and picked TCU based on proximity and ticket sales.

After that, why the hell should the Sugar Bowl have taken Boise State over Cincinnati? Cincinnati was ranked higher all year and ranked No. 3 in the final poll.

What, the Fiesta should have taken freakin' Iowa over Boise State or TCU? Gimme a break.

The Sugar took Cincinnati because it had to. It had the last pick in the rotation.

It went: Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, Fiesta, Sugar.

    MMII:

A lot of us who have been saying Boise and TCU are equal are mad because we wanted to see them prove to all the SEC/Big XII/ACC/Pac 10/Big 10 fanboys that they are equal. No matter what happens in the Fiesta, I'll still know that TCU could beat Texas.

I wish we could have a 4-8 team playoff that is adaptable based on the season standings so that every undefeated gets a shot.

This year, you could have Alabama and Texas with first round byes.

TCU could host Boise State --- fiesta
Cincinati could host Florida ---- Orange

Winner of game one could play Bama - Sugar
Winner of game two could play Texas - Cotton
Winner of the semi finals would meet. BCS Champ

Then you could still make crappy matchups for the other bowl games
    osu/oregon in the rose

Boom five great bowl games. (

Actually, the Sugar Bowl had the last pick and took Cinci by default. They had no other choice. It went Sugar-Fiesta-Orange-Fiesta-Sugar.

Do you really think TCU or Boise State would have proven it any better against Georgia Tech (loses bad to Georgia in their last game) or Iowa (loses two of their last three and struggle against Arkansas State, Michigan State and Northern Iowa)? Because one of them almost certainly would have gotten that opponent. Possibly both. And then we'd get the complaining similiar to the Utah-Pitt Fiesta Bowl.

The whole culture needs to be changed. Tradition is ruined. Scrap the whole damn thing. They need to collaboratively work together to please the fans. What's the point if the fans are unhappy?

While the rematch aspect of it sucks, I do like one other thing about Boise-TCU matching up in the Fiesta.

If Texas somehow manages a craptacular win over Alabama, the Fiesta winner gets my vote as national champ.
