Withdrawn, but still, as MMII said, a win over Iowa or Georgia Tech wouldn't have necessarily proven anything. And Boise will sell more tickets in Glendale than Cincinnati would.

If you think Iowa would give up 34 points to TCU you clearly didn't watch Iowa play this year. Either that or you're a complete fucking idiot.

The mid-majors have already proven they can beat the big boys. Boise over Oklahoma. Utah over Alabama. And Pittsburgh. The whole thing, yes, needs to be scrapped. No automatic qualifiers. Take the best teams, conference affiliations be damned.

So, if TCU loses to Boise in the Fiesta Bowl, do we get the "they were disappointed to not be playing in the championship game" excuse, a la Alabama?

Technically, two mid-majors proved they could beat the big boys (discounting Utah-Pitt because Utah was clearly better) in two years. And what Boise did against Oklahoma shouldn't have any bearing on their resume this year, which pales after the Oregon win.

I bet two days ago, you'd have said the same thing if someone said Florida was going to give up 34 to Alabama.

So who cares if you're in a "BCS conference" or not? Lump everyone together and take what are perceived to be the best teams. Had Nebraska won last night, why should they, Iowa and Georgia Tech get into a big-day bowl game over Boise just because of the conference they play in?

Again, just go to a playoff. It wouldn't be that hard. And you can keep these precious bowls that apparently everyone loves.

Good point. The four at-large teams were TCU, Boise State, Iowa and Florida. The Sugar got Florida and a nice matchup of two high-powered offenses that should be entertaining.
Given the choice of matching up TCU in the Fiesta Bowl with Boise or an Iowa team that, frankly, has played over its head much of the year, I'd rather see TCU-Boise.

Speaking as an Iowa fanboi, I like the matchup with Georgia Tech.

Iowa's defense has been its strength all year, and in Josh Nesbitt, the Hawkeyes will face the toughest QB they've seen all season.

Looks like a great game to me!

UCLA has to wait until next week to find out if they get to play in a bowl game. ESPN.com has the Eagle Bank Bowl match-up listed as UCLA/Army vs. Temple.

If Army beats Navy UCLA stays home. If Navy beat Army UCLA goes to D.C.
