The reason I dislike TCU v. Boise is simple: We know what will happen because it happened last year: A great game that ended with a 1-point difference, 17-16 TCU, to deny Boise an undefeated season.

The same thing will happen this go-round: Another great game between undefeated teams. So the Fiesta wanting the best matchup goes without saying.

But it's a boring way of doing the same thing.

How about providing some national intrigue, a game that makes people really want to tune in? Give someone like TCU the shot it has earned (or Boise for that matter, but I think TCU has the better resume this season). Utah proved that the mid-sized schools can beat the shit out of the big boys (whipping Alabama in the Sugar Bowl).

But you cannot tell me TCU wouldn't hold its own against Alabama with the biggest prize on the line. Those two defenses smashing each other for 60 minutes? See, that's what a high-stakes bowl ought to be. Not some cockamamee rigomarol about "the Fiesta Bowl's line of thinking ... " and other spewed nonsense.

TCU v. Boise. Yeah, 2 undefeated teams. But it's a fucking yawner of a matchup.

It was 17-16 last year. Ain't a thing going to change this time.

    From si.com:

What meat is there to the argument that TCU deserves to be there more than Texas?

    Uh, what I just posted:

"But the Horned Frogs played just six teams that finished .500 or better (8-5 Clemson, 7-5 SMU, 7-5 Air Force, 10-2 BYU, 9-3 Utah and 6-6 Wyoming). By comparison, Alabama and Texas both played nine."

When BYU is your signature win...well there you go.

Oliver, that's a pretty petty argument. 6 v. 9. So what. You're slicing the onion too much.

So, beating 10-2 BYU and 9-3 Utah isn't good enough? And winning at Clemson, and winning at Virginia isn't good enough?

Sorry, not much of an argument.

Texas and TCU have similar scores v. Wyoming (41-10 and 45-10, both at Wyoming).

Texas, meanwhile, scheduled Louisiana Monroe and UTEP. Tough scheduling there, Mack.

Isn't "slicing the onion" what everyone's doing? Isn't that what you're doing trying to argue TCU over Texas?

Why is your onion slicing more relevant than my onion slices?

You're right. It's the same thing. But I'd rather look at the overall quality of the schedule.

    Texas: 6-6 La. Monroe, 6-6 Wyoming, 4-8 UTEP, 4-8 Baylor, 5-7 Kansas ...

Not exactly more sterling than TCU.

Try to tell me VT vs. Tennessee isn't the best bowl matchup. Go ahead, give it a shot. I dare you! :) :) :)

Because your onion slicing is annoying.
