Not sure about the excuse, but I do know Boise State would be quick to point out it would have beaten two BCS teams -- one a BCS conference champion -- in going 14-0 this seasonl

Yeah, from trolling the Alabama message boards the last couple of days, the operative question among the masses was not "am I going to buy tickets for the BCS title game?," but "do I have enough booster club points to qualify to buy tickets?"

And it's like that every year, whether they're playing in Pasadena or Shreveport ...

"booster club points" ... how cute.

Booster Club? Sounds like something Marcia Brady would be joining.

How many points does a Bama Booster Clubber need to book this guy for a groovy school gig?

Well, I would have included the official name, which is "Tide Pride," but I figured that was a little too inside baseball-y and therefore unnecessary.

But please, carry on with your elitist bashing. Just remember that a big part of the reason Alabama is playing for the national championship is that their fans actually put their money where their mouth is, rather than complain from the sidelines when they're not included in the process.

Far from bashing from an elitist perch, I think it's cool that the booster club is so popular in Tuscaloosa. (And I like Alabama football.)

But reading the initial post was humorous.

The Bammers are still the biggest bunch of lunatics on the planet. Ugh.

Know it's a long shot, and probably just a bunch of grandstanding, but at least it's an issue.

Definitely worth the mention. The tide has definitely turned in the BCS-playoff debate from the start of the decade to now.

Worth mentioning that the sponsor of this bill is Texas congressman Joe Barton, whose district encompasses many of the suburbs between Dallas and Fort Worth (i.e., the people who send their kids to TCU).
