Just got back from my workout, where I watched the first half and halftime of the Arizona/Nebraska blowout...

What the HELL was with the sappy piano music when that reporter was talking about his conversation with Mike Leach?? The guy didn't die a tragic death, he got fired for being an insufferable prick.

    He just did.

To which I replied, "Or taken to Mike Leach's shed," to which one guy in sports quasi-laughed.

Sonny Dykes just got mentioned for the Texas Tech job.

42 yards of offense? 10 yards of passing?

    BWAA-HAA-HAA

Wasn't Dykes, the senior, responsible for TT getting put on probation back in the late 90's?

    Ensuing hilarity.

I decided not to watch the Humanitarian Bowl, but I was pretty pumped for this game. Good call, dumbass!

Holy shit. It may be slow to update, but the ESPN box score shows:

    Nebraska points: 33
    Arizona yards: 36

But you keep acting like all teams with zero losses should be considered better than all teams with one loss, who in turn are better than all teams with two losses, regardless of who those wins and losses came against. Using your logic, Old Dominion, which went 9-2 against cats and dogs, should be ranked higher than James Madison, who went 6-5 against Maryland and the toughest conference in FCS, or Weber State, which went 7-4 with losses against two FBS schools and Montana and made the playoffs.

Because once you said Ball State would have been a legitimate national title game participant had they gone unbeaten last year, that pretty much defines your argument.

No, you are misinterpreting my argument. "Better" is irrelevant.

I'm saying "better" should be irrelevant in deciding who plays for the national title. A 12-0 team that beat crappy division I schools deserves a title shot over an 11-1 team that played a difficult schedule, despite it being very likely that the 11-1 team is the better team. In order for it to be a legitimate Division I FBS championship, every team that plays in Division I FBS should have the opportunity to win it on the field in any given season.

That has nothing to do with who is "better" and who should be ranked higher in irrelevant lists further down the line.

Those were among the stupid things Nike came up with for several of its client schools at the end of the season. Swoosh Inc. should be banned from having anything to do with designing football uniforms.

    Damn. That's good.

    No, you weren't.

But how necessary was that bowl if they're having to get sponsorship from a truck stop?

I live in one of the few areas that was pumped for the Hum Bowl, and the Vandals delivered.

Never thought I'd see the Idaho football team leading off Sports Center, let alone Robb Akey (that's ACHE-eee, Sportscenter gang!) rambling on in his gravelly voice.

Great game and a great season for Akey and the boys!
