This argument might mean something if they hadn't beat a very good oregon team

Apropos of nothing, Mizzou got the shaft again. The Insight Bowl picked Iowa State, a team that finished 6-6, ahead of 8-4 MU, despite MU winning the head-to-head meeting. Just like the Gator Bowl did last year with Nebraska, just like the fucking BCS did in 2007 with KU.

The only plus is that the Insight bowl, which will feature shitty Iowa State against shitty Minnesota is on the NFL network where it should be, so most of the country won't be subjected to it.

As for the BCS, I'd much rather see TCU and Boise try to take down two other teams isntead of each other.

Boise's win against Oklahoma and Utah's win against Alabama have pretty much assured that when two BCS busters make the final 10, they will be paired. Book it.

And Missouri should be playing Georgia in the Independence Bowl, but I'm glad the Tigers are facing Navy in the Texas Bowl instead of being stuck in a snoozefest with Minnesota in the Insight Bowl. Iowa State-Minnesota has to be in the bottom three of this year's matchups.

    Outback picks Northwestern over Wisconsin.

It didn't have the greatest choice either way.

At least Northwestern is a curiosity.

Nice to know beating one very good team is enough to earn a BCS bowl bid.

Stanford beat Oregon too, and six other BCS-conference teams to boot. What do they get?

I hold no brief for Boise. I weep
for TCU not getting their shot to
take a swing at the big prize.

What you get when you lose four games: bubkes.

And listing BCS opponents is meaningless when comparing teams in BCS conferences to teams outside of BCS conferences. It gives Mississippi State and Vanderbilt weight they don't deserve.

See, and I detect in TCU a willingness to at least consider doing something about that, by scheduling even tougher.

Though I've found their 2011 and 2012 schedules online, and they're good, but not great. Baylor, Texas Tech, Navy and SMU in 2011; SMU, Navy, Oklahoma and Virginia in 2012.

The SMU series seems set for about six years. TCU needs to get itself out of that and find better opponents. They've got Baylor and SMU next year; hopefully the other two will be decent.

Gee, I wonder if Boise will call TCU and offer to play. Hmm, probably not. Wouldn't wanna interfere with those games against Toledo or Wyoming. (In fairness, Boise does have two BCS opponents next year -- though they've pretty much set themselves to avoid that annoying little occurrence for about the next five years after that.)

You're right, though it seems like a fair trade for Utah continuing to get weight it doesn't deserve this year.

And BCS conference power notwithstanding, Boise's second-best opponent is still either Nevada or Fresno State.

I wonder what would happen if Fitzgerald somehow gets the Notre Dame job. The Wildcats wouldn't be so intriguing then.
