"That was true this year, but not last year," he said with a mischievious grin.

I think just the opposite. You've got a one-loss team beating the hell out of the "No. 3" team. All the more reason for a playoff, that alleged lower-seeded teams could rise up and win the title. And I've said it before: It would be easy to do a playoff and preserve the precious bowl system.

If Cincy had qualified for the national championship game, would Brian Kelly have been so quick to jet off to Notre Dame, or even to take the Notre Dame job at all? I can only imagine how bad he would have looked had his team had a shot at the national title, only to rush off for another job before the final game.

    Nope.

Big East and the other shit conferences don't get NFL-caliber players.

They have no right to be in the mix, not any more than I-AA teams would.

PRO-playoff forces have lost their momentum....?

    The opposite is true.

Neither does Florida, if you judge solely by the quarterback position.

Yes, that is intelligence, a very informed statement....

The SEC had 37 players drafted by NFL this past April
The Pac 10 had 32 players drafted -- 11 from one team.
The Big 12 and Big 10 had 28 each.
The Big East with four less teams than the aforementioned two conferences as well as the SEC and two less than the Pac 10 had 27 players drafted.....

Yeah, I can see your point, there is no NFL talent there. ::)

Again, the worst part of this kind of game - or if Boise were to get trucked by TCU - is the idiocy that follows from the clueless among us.....

It's not an overreaction to one bad game tonight. I just told you that. And I'm not an SEC fanboy, so save that bullshit too (my alma mater is an SEC school, but I don't cheer for other SEC schools. In fact, I can't stand the fans of most of them). But the Big East sucks. Period. Plain and simple. One team here, one team there, has been good. Overall, however, the conference is terrible.

And since reconfiguration, the Big East has one win against the SEC in BCS games, not two. West Virginia in '05.

Regardless, the problem is the system that leaves us with crap-ass matchups like this instead of a playoff where these teams would have actually been playing for something. So I agree with you that one game with very little meaning is a bad way to judge which conference is better. But I'll stand by my assertion that the Big East, top to bottom, isn't very good.

I see a big strong kid who will be a bitch to sack. I think he is smart enough to read defenses, and I think his arm is strong enough to throw the seam route down the middle and the out if needed.

He is also very accurate when he throws the ball. Two out of every three of his passes in college are completed for 8.6 ypa.

I see a lot to like, especially in today's NFL.

Helluva sendoff for Tebow. He kind of annoys me, but he's a damn fine football player.

Why does he annoy you-- because he advertisers some of your verses under his eyes?
