No one stopped after it killed George Allen. Don't see it stopping now.

I guess I'm among the lonely few who enjoyed Bellick's call of the Sugar Bowl.

Thought he dropped in some nice insight and it seemed like I heard some rare truth in broadcasting.

When talking about taking Tebow in the first round Bellick said something like, "everyone says they would take Tebow in the first round. But they aren't NFL general managers. Their vanity gets in the way and if they get it wrong, with a quarterback in the first round, they end up calling games on Fox during bowl season."

I was like hello Matt Millen.

He also got into Tebow's mechanical problems with his throwing motion.

If the right team -- Miami, Jacksonvillle -- drafts him high, they can sell a butt load of tickets because of his name and he can be an impact player as wildcat QB and in short yardage, goal line situations.
But Tebow is not, at this point, an every down quarterback in the NFL.

How do you feel about the fact that they talked about Tebow's draft status all night but didn't mention that Wayne Weaver has publicly said he wants the Jags to take Tebow in the first round to sell tickets? That's either shitty reporting or insincere analysis.

who was in the Sugar Bowl media room clapping when Urban said the stuff about Tebow always being a winner?

Sounded like a loud round of applause. Sickening.

Just watched the first half - when the game was still somewhat close - and I enjoyed Billick's call. He had some good insights about Florida being more of a plodding offense this year instead of a quick strike team - which made the quick strikes all the more telling.
And how nice to hear an announcer share that he had a good time being out on the town soaking up the local flavor.

The Brian Billick who was head coach of the Ravens didn't know shit about good NFL quarterbacks. Then again, I guess he saw enough bad ones in Baltimore to easily recognize one when he sees it.

I'm not sure why there's still a debate over Tebow's status as an NFL quarterback. He simply can't be one. Anyone who pays attention to the NFL can see it plain as day. He's an average passer on the college level; he'd struggle to complete 40 percent of his passes in the NFL, counting interceptions. He'd be Jamarcus Russell without a strong arm. He's enough of an athlete and a hard-enough worker that he'll find a niche, but he will never be a successful starting QB, if there's a team dumb enough to even consider that a possibility.

You'd make those kind of noises, too, if other big programs were nipping at the heels of some of your bluechip recruits. When in
doubt, the big spin tends to work,
in college sports and other dens
    of iniquity.
