Matt Leinart ... although he might still have an outside shot at making it

Dexter McCluster off and running, 80 yds for Ole Miss.
    7-0 Rebs
McCluster took the handoff from a backup QB after starter Snead was crushed while chasing a guy who'd intercepted him.

Good to know the back-up QB is capable of handing off

Seconded. I thought Harrington had all the tools -- mental and physical -- to make it. He keeps hanging around the league, but will likely be a career backup.

The Big Ten also plays a significantly tougher bowl alignment than the Big Least. The BE is playing second and third-place teams from mid-major conferences.

Five of the top six Big Ten choices play either a Pac-10, SEC or Big 12 team.

  7. Malcolm Gladwell had a New Yorker piece a year or two ago about how difficult it was to evaluate college quarterbacks compared to the other positions, mostly because of the spread.

Summerall has now told me twice that Houston Nutt was a coach at Oklahoma State when Gundy was a player there. *sigh*

I think the pendulum of the spread has swung about as far as it can and will start coming back sooner rather than later. One need only look at Florida's offensive numbers to realize that it can be stopped.

Florida's lower offensive numbers this season can be attributed directly to the loss of Percy Harvin.

Per Sommerall: "Jordan Shene to attempt the field goal from Oklahoma City"

That guy was lucky to hit the upright from that distance.

    I thought the same thing.

And my Rebels are doing everything they can to lose this game.
