Aren't a couple of these schools junior colleges?

Nope. All regional four-year universities. In fact, all of them offer graduate degrees as well.

Just strange that there are so many different regions represented.

I mean, Central and East Central? That's what really threw me.

    Sorry.....didn't mean any offence. :)

I didn't even mention Oklahoma Panhandle State University. :)

So that's not covered by Northwestern Oklahoma State? :D

Who could forget OPSU? Tragedy. Seriously, I have no idea why this state has so many universities. It's a puzzle.

And you've not mentioned the private schools. Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma Baptist, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (oops, it's public) Southwestern Christian University and Southern Nazarene University.

There's also Cameron University, Oral Roberts University, Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Bacone College, St. Gregory's University, Rogers State University and Langston University. At least two of those aren't accredited by any REAL accrediting institution, and at least one other is specious at best.

It's mind-boggling. (Sorry for the Oklahoma higher education threadjack.)

It's not a corner, but don't forget South Central Louisiana State.

That is a lot of freaking schools for a state with a population of less than four million people. Wow.

Yep. I also forgot the University of Tulsa.

And that's only the four-year schools. We have more jucos than I know what to do with.

I don't think it's really that much more per capita than any other state.

Yeah, Mississippi has 10 four-year schools that play football (and a half-dozen or so more that don't) and its population is less than 3 million (Oklahoma's about 3.75).

And I daresay say it's got just as many JuCos as Oklahoma does.

Now, can you name the towns those Oklahoma schools are located in without using teh googles?

Tulsa and Oklahoma City are easy.
