I believe he was already enrolled, then decided to portal. Either Cal came back at him with a better offer or he's heard who UO is bringing in as next year's transfer starter.

He practiced with them prior to the Rose Bowl. Maybe he didn't like his position coach, maybe he saw the competition was better than he was, who knows.

MLB in the Portland area would be a horrible idea. Team would draw well for its honeymoon period, and then maybe if were uber successful - but only then. Look at Seattle’s numbers. Not enough businesses in Portland to create a solid enough sponsorship base for the team. MLB demographics skew old, and Portland generally is moving in the opposite direction. And once the weather gets out of if moss-growing phase in late May/early June, I imagine a lot people would rather spend their summer nights doing something other that watching baseball.

Very odd. Entire Big 12 officiating crew that did the Georgia-Notre Dame game will be on the Penn State-Notre Dame game.

ACC crew will have the Ohio State-Texas game. Three of those on-field officials did Ohio State's Rose Bowl game.

It's kinda fun that an SEC expansion team, last year's Big 12 champion, is the only $EC team left in the semi finals.

And the $EC commissioner is out there crying that he wants changes.

I don't think much changes next year. Maybe the seedings/rankings thing gets a bit of an adjustment.

2026 is when the restructuring that gave the SEC and B1G control kicks in, and I'd bet the playoff goes to 14 or 16 teams then.

Can't wait for the 1 v 16 game. SEC behemoth vs. a school that has no business playing football at the highest level. When this happens in basketball, the disappearance of the cute underdog is fine because three others games are going on. In the football tournament, there aren't as many options.

We'll just disagree. The Mariners have consistently outdrawn the AL average and have attracted 2+ million in virtually every full season since SafeCo/TMobile opened.

Portland has outstanding summer/fall weather. Not everyone goes to the beach or the mountains. If the stadium is accessible, people will go.

At one time I thought something like this would lead to a bit of a trickle down impact and the game would develop a bit of parity. You know, grant access to all and that would mean more quality players would go to the little guy because they still have a shot to win something.

But with the free-for-all NIL and transfer rules it will just never happen in football. At least in basketball the smaller schools may be able to keep a player around and develop some experience (plus in basketball you only need a couple of players to have a huge impact, you need many more in football).

So 16 probably would be messy, and it wouldn't make the next round much better I don't think. I really think 12 is pretty solid and this set up is good. They just need to go to true seedings. Of course if the byes keep losing, even when they are the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, they may go to 16 by default.

The Timbers averaged 23k., the Thorns 13k -and soccer season runs roughly the same as baseball. But throw in the new WNBA team and you wonder if there is enough support for four "major" teams in the good weather months. The area is lacking in corporate dollars and I really would have no interest to seeing a team that was unable or unwilling to compete. I just got out of a long-relationship with the A's like that.

Actually I think that the parity in hoops that came from the 1 and done and NIL $$ May help the smaller schools since the nos 14-30 QBs etc seek out other opportunities to star
