Franklin keeps his entire backfield, as Nick Singleton joins Drew Allar and Kaytron Allen in opting for another year of NIL money.

They've pulled in two wideouts from the portal -- USC's Kyron Hudson and Troy 1,000-yard guy Devonte Ross. They have to be better than what Franklin had.

Their non-conference is a joke and they host Oregon and are at Ohio State. 10-2 is probably the floor depending on what you want to believe about Indiana going forward or if at Iowa ends up being a 10-6 loss

Notre Dame actually has (or should have) a pretty decent schedule next season.

    at Miami (solid)
    Texas A&M (solid)
    Purdue
at Arkansas (shouldn't be as mediocre as they are)
Boise State (despite everybody running away from them!!!!!!!!
Southern California (they can't be crap again, can they?)
    Navy (winning bowl team, FWIW)
    at Pitt
    at Boston College
    N.C. State
    Syracuse

Four true road games. Really stepping up.

Same number Ohio State and Texas had this year.

Speaking of Texas, they have a weird schedule next year. They open at Ohio State; play three jabronis at home (although San Jose State is occasionally frisky); and then play four in a row and five of six away from home, including a visit to Georgia in November and the Oklahoma game in Dallas. They don't play a home game at all in October.

No more Stanford because they're in the ACC rotation now? I do love NDs schedule though. It really helps you get a good gauge on conference strength. I think they played all four P4 conferences this year and a couple of G5s as well.

I still think Alabama and Florida are the kings. Maybe five regular season games between them north of the Mason-Dixon and west of the Red River in the last 15 years.

I suppose his agent posted the funds. Fascinating how the alleged prospect declared for the draft three days after the accident, from which he fled to another state.

    Alabama this season: At Wisconsin
Alabama last season: At South Florida
Alabama 2022: at Texas (then a non-conference game)
Alabama road games in the coming decade: Florida State, Weat Virginia, Ohio State, Oklahoma Sttae, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Arizona, Minnesota, Virginia Tech

    But hey, narrative!

You schedule home/away whatever you can get away with.

One of the greatest home/away heists was orchestrated by Tennessee AD Bob Woodruff, who got Penn State to visit Knoxville in 1971 (the team with Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell) --- and got them to return to Knoxville in 1972 to help christen the first night game at Neyland.

Tennessee has never gone to State College.

Penn State in the 60s and 70s struggled sometimes to put together championship-worthy schedules. (The 1969 undefeated team that got snubbed by Nixon and then the polls only played one ranked team in the regular season.)

From all appearances, it ran into the same roadblock many Southern schools did - Michigan and Ohio State weren’t all that interested. The Wolverines never played them until Penn State joined the Big 10. The Lions only played neighboring Ohio State five times in those two decades and four of those meetings were in Columbus.

By the 80s, JoePa had locked in decade-long contracts to play Notre Dame and Alabama and schedule strength wasn’t much of an issue any more. Not long after those series ended they were in the Big 10.
