I am worried kickers in college are getting too good. This takes away the entertainment value of wackiness. I don’t want guys who hit 56-yard kicks 70 percent of the time. I want a guy in rec specs peeing down his leg at a 37-yarder at LSU.

Good kickers turn coaches into Ferentz or Tressel or Sharrone Moore. Not going on fourth down and taking the easy three. I want chaos.

Then you have guys like No. 77 for Penn State who was having the shittiest game of any lineman in America this season ... with all of his penalties ... but was there to pull and help open the canyon for Singleton's 58-yard run that made it 31-14.

Oregon scheduled Boise State this year. Washington and UCF (Big 12) scheduled Boise State last year. Oklahoma State scheduled Boise State in 2021 and 2018. Florida State scheduled Boise State in 2019. Virginia scheduled Boise State in 2017. Washington State and Oregon State have been regulars on Boise State's schedule.

Arguably THE best non-power 4 team in the nation seems to have no problem scheduling at least one prominent power-4 team each year. Surely lesser non-power 4 teams can do the same.

You are kind of getting it at midfield, where the idea of punting to pin someone deep has become less fashionable than denim jackets.

If you dissect the Penn State-SMU game it was kind of similar. I think SMU had four trips inside the red zone that netted a total of three points, and they threw two pick-sixes that put them in an early hole. They had more opportunities to stay in the game than you'd think just seeing the final score.
The difference was, Boise State pulled out of its tailspin and made a game of it and SMU didn't.
I mentioned it last night, but Allar's fumble when it was 14-0 changed that whole game. Penn State was inside the 40 and driving for the death blow, then Boise recovers that fumble and gets things stabilized. The score was 17-14 from that point on. The game probably ends 42-10 if Boise doesn't get that fumble.

The Boise kicker last night was not good.

At this point in his tenure, Franklin really can't justify having a 2025 non-con slate of Villanova, FIU and Nevada. Ohio State and Texas are playing each other, Oregon is playing Oklahoma State, Georgia has Austin Peay, Marshall and Charlotte in addition to the year-ender against Tech. Boise at Notre Dame should be fun, Its weird to me that SMU is playing Baylor and TCU in non-conference. and Clemson plays LSU to start the year. So outside of Penn State, I think teams are mixing it up enough outside of conference to get a good idea of conference strength. And a special shout out to Notre Dame which will play teams from all 4 P4 conferences, plus Boise and Navy. Ouch.

He also has West Virginia at home. This is how Jimbo rolls. He did the same thing at Vanderbilt and said after the home and home with Auburn he won’t schedule like that again.

No Beef Bowl. No Disneyland visit. And now no Art Spander. Has the sunset been canceled yet?

Rose Bowl in a monsoon would be cool. Sigh.

One thing to run for 250 and 4 against Hawaii, Utah State and San Diego State.
