The goddess of victory is pissed that one of its alumni stole her name.

Another thing about the targeting call, it didn’t get called on the field either.
The back judge has to get that. That being said, it probably doesn’t change anything with regards to the outcome. Everyone in the stadium and watching on tv knew where the 4/13 was going and they botched it.

The baseball stadium and basketball/volleyball arena aren’t that recent.

Biggest thing lately is new track facility. Possibly nicest on earth.

Re-watched the conference championship games. Seeing Oregon's D make Penn State look good on offense should have been more of a sign that they were vulnerable. Texas still doesn't have a "closer" mentality, and their kicker is shaky. It will be interesting seeing how the Georgia qb does after a couple of weeks with more reps in practice. It was surprising just seeing how wide ass open some receivers would get on busted coverages.

But I still like this format.

I also think it might shift recruiting, somewhat.

You still are playing a game on a national stage with a chance to win it all. We are seeing matchups that would be next to impossible (Boise/Penn State, ASU/Texas) with current scheduling. The NIL kids are still playing in the bowl games. And, conference bragging rights are being sorted out.

Now, NIL does need reigned in to some degree (not what players are paid, but limit the amount of school switching - maybe only two transfers in a college career).

No, I said “one of its alumni.” One of many.

Do we think -- if they had stuck to the four-team playoff -- that all four P4 champs would be guaranteed into the field? I think they would have built in a caveat that said you had to be in the top 8 or something to gain automatic entry, which would have eliminated Arizona State, Boise State and Clemson. So you probably would have had rematches of the two conference championships from the previous week (Oregon/Penn State, Texas/Georgia), which would have totally sucked.

I know this thing will go to 16 eventually, but I really think eight was the right number. That gets you five conference champs (including top G5) and three at-larges, which would have been Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Agreed. Again, the conference championship games in the Big10, SEC and ACC were all great games even though five of the six were playoff locks. I like the conference championship games meaning something - you may as well use them as "part of the playoffs." I do like the notion of changing the seedings from the two lowest seeds "playing in" to the top seed though. If you are going to monkey with the seedings by elevating conference champs, you should do right by at least not screwing over the top seed.
Again, I'm an Oregon State alum and enjoyed the Rose Bowl, but Ohio State was not a "true" 8 seed. And you can throw in the idea of a conference champ being seeded lower than an at-large in the same conference (Clemson/SMU). I've got Ohio State and Georgia in final - I'll wait to see how the Georgia back-up QB does tonight before I make my pick in that game.

I like them meaning something, too. But the playoffs just fuck them up. So do monster-sized conferences which may very well have 3-4 of the best 8-12 teams in them.

Using them as "part of the playoffs" gives you No. 2 Texas facing No. 5 Georgia as its first "playoff" game while No. 10 Boise State gets No. 19 UNLV.

I agree that eight is the optimal number. This ain’t basketball, the regular season matters. A 10th ranked team winning a CFB NC really waters down the sport.

You’re right. Hopped on to check and correct … mea culpa.
