It's the Scarlet Knights vs. the Purple Pussies!

My girlfriend is a loyal, spirited Kansas State alumna. So like a good boyfriend, as soon as work's over, I'm off to the local bar (NFL is bogarting this game, as you probably know, so it's not on normal cable TV). There, I'll be a good boyfriend and pretend to give a shit what happens to the Kansas Fucking State Wildcats. I'm even wearing my Willie the Wildcat shirt today.

I'm not a big college sports fan...and it's not part of my job description to keep up with D-1 football, so outside of the fact that Rutgers has had a great year, I know nothing about them. I know a little bit about K-State, as I live in Big 12 country. If anyone can offer something of interest about this game that I can focus on...a game-within-the-game dynamic to watch or something along those lines...I'd be grateful. It might keep me from being bored and using that as an excuse to drink too much. Yes, I'll be looking at a couple of online previews this afternoon, but I thought the brainiacs of SportsJournalists.com might offer something more than the usual bullshit.

You're a huge, yawning gash, wi.

    Go Rutgers!

Oh man, you have my condolences. Just tell her, "It's R Time."

It is indeed "R" time, but that's not what she wants to hear. She's a die-hard. My girlfriend and I have never had a fight, but if I were to refer to the K-State football team as the Indigo Girls, that would surely start one. I'm keeping that one up my sleeve should she ever piss me off.

I'm hoping the Cats will at least put on a decent showing. That will increase my chances of getting some later tonight. My gal's a pretty conservative evangelical Christian (this may shock those on the board who read my Henry Miller-ish sex posts). She doesn't give it up too often, and a K-State loss always puts her out of the mood.

If you have to go watch K-State, she should blow you under the table...

I'm willing to be a huge, yawning one to get access to a snug, dainty little one.

I'm sure my girlfriend would be thrilled to know that I just referred to her gentials as "dainty" to thousands of strangers on an internet message board.

Err, any thoughts about the game?

And Zeke, excellent idea. I'll pass that suggestion along. "This buddy of mine on SportsJournalists.com said you should blow me under the table since I'm willing to put up with watching Kansas State..."

Just tell her that you will be enduring the visual equivalent of swallowing a massive load, so it's only fair. ;)

I can laugh at myself if the joke's funny. That wasn't.

I'm gonna get a shitload of shit for saying this, but don't write off Kansas State so quickly. Despite getting hammered by Kansas in their last game, the Wildcats could quite possibly go all Texas on Rutgers. And no, I'm not a fanboy.

I just want Chef's tortilla soup recipe. :D

K-State's a one-trick pony: they have a good passing offense. If Rutgers can't stop Freeman, then the Cats have a chance, I suppose, but presumably Rutgers will be well-prepared. A freshman quarterback is a pretty dicey centerpiece for a team's offense.

K-State's pass defense was horrendous against Kansas. Don't know what they can do on that, as it seemed to be an issue of personnel rather than play-calling.
