Whoever laid the 9 and took Texas to win should be expecting a phone call from their bookie before the clock strikes midnight Sunday night.

Iowa played their asses off though they came up short to the 'Horns, 26-24.

Can someone, who knows the rules better than I do, please explain about the ineligible receiver down-the-field call on the Tate-to-Chandler TD catch. The refs said that Chandler had a man over him near the line, but it appeared to me that he wasn't on the line, per se, to block. As a result, the TD was nullified and that was the 14-point turnaround for Texas before halftime.

What is the appropriate ruling on ineligible receivers under the NCAA guidelines?

    Danke schoen.

If an eligible receiver was covered (ie, had another player from his team lined up on the line of scrimmage outside of him) he is an ineligible receiver.

BTW, I saw in the paper today that Missouri had one accepted penalty, for 15 yards. I read that the touchdown and ensuing two-point conversion plays, and a possible interception, were all reviewed, and upheld or overturned by "conclusive" video evidence.

So just how was Missouri screwed? What coach in America wouldn't kill for ONE accepted penalty from an officiating crew? Maybe its terrible fourth-quarter defense had more say in the matter?

Pinkel has led the Tigers to three bowls in the past five years, I read. Missouri doesn't have an outstanding football pedigree, with only four 9-win seasons in more than 100 years of football. The state isn't exactly a hotbed for recruiting, like Texas or Pennsylvania, for example.

It will always play second-fiddle to Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska in the Big 12. Sounds to me as if they are accomplishing about what you'd expect from a middle-tier Big 12 football school.

Georgia's making a game of it, at least.

All the bowls I've watched have been good fourth quarter games. At least they haven't all been blowouts like we'll see soon.

Thanks micropolitan. From the way the camera was looking on the play, it appeared that Chandler wasn't covered. I really would like to see the endzone camera's view. I can't complain on the call, but a better view would give me a better sense of relief knowing it wasn't a blown call. Anyhoo, we've have some doozies over the last few days with Bowl Week.

And it should have been more, on that first play after the fumble. Perfect call, great execution ... except for the wide-open drop. Hokies got lucky there to hold them to three.

Can we start a new Virginia Tech drinking game? Every time ESPN shows me Jim Rome-looking Bud Foster we all have to do a shot. Shit, we'd be hammered by the end of the first quarter.

Oh yeah, and every time they reference the lunch pail you have to finish your drink.

That was huge. Not only do I have a show on ESPN, if not pre-empted by other shows, but I coach the VaTech defense as well.

    That is epic........by me!

    Rack me! I'm huge!

Only if J-Stew could get as much run as I do. But....he doesn't. Sorry about that, Jason. Better luck next year, bro.
