What made it difficult, at first for me, was the power behind the shot. Even on slo-mo, it was hard to initially pick up the puck. The shot from the far ice, which ESPN didn't show until right before the decision, was the most conclusive.

Not sure I've ever seen a shot go through a net like that. I could not see a hole or rip.

Did the officials find an open seam or a tear in the net? The TV guys said they couldn't, but I'm not so sure ... and haven't read up on the game yet.

  3. I never saw the officials check the net, which seems like that would have been an obvious thing to do. But I did just read one reason why the review was so long was that the video tech people had trouble finding the moment in question since so much time had elapsed.

Uneasy lies the head that wears the No. 1 seed.
And having to play in the other team's barn today makes it even less easy, unless BU stretches that first 27 minutes last night over 60.

Terrier, the Verizon isn't UNH's home ice, and the disparity in driving time from Commonwealth Ave. and Durham to Manchester is not statistically significant. There were PLENTY of empty seats at the UNH game yesterday, so if BU fans don't show, they have only themselves to blame.

M_G, Manchester also holds a lot more people than the Whittemore Center (10K to 6K), but VZWA hosts a few UNH games each season. The Whittemore Center, though, is a much much much better environment to watch college hockey in.

I don't have ESPNU and ESPN.com is awful at updating the scores ... following online, BU and UNH are tied 1-1 in the second. I wonder if James van Riemsdyk will upstage Colin Wilson.

The longer this game remains tied (or if UNH gets the lead), the heavier the monkey is going to get on BU's back. They have gotten to this point something like six times since making their last Frozen Four in '97 and lost each time, all but twice to lower-seeded opponents.

Terriers get one on the PP with 15 seconds left, take 2-1 lead.

And BU wins it 2-1. They're finally going back to the Frozen Four.

Last I saw, Cornell and Bemidji were scoreless in the second. I'd love to see Bemidji, another nontraditional team, in the FF.

Ugh. I know everyone is loving Bemidji right now. But what a disaster.
