Same here. They absolutely had it and let it get away. Though BU's the type of team that can make a comeback like that, as it did all season. At the very least, it was a good game -- unlike UNC-Michigan State.

There was no comparison as far as getting your time and money's worth as a fan betwen the hockey tourney and either basketball tourney. Nothing but thrills on the ice, little but yawns on the court.

I don't know the quality of CIS hockey, but I'm pretty sure college hockey in Canada is a lot like college baseball in America — anybody who can play is already in a pro farm system or keeping his options open at a juco, and most of the rest are hoping to catch a pro scout's eye eventually.

A lot of CIS players are undrafted players who played in the Canadian Hockey League (Ontario, Quebec and Western Hockey Leagues).

That means you have a lot of 20 -25 year olds on the teams..you don't find a lot of 18 year olds

  5. Let's not forget the UMD-Bowling Green final from 1984. Four OTs (though back then they didn't play full 20-minute OT periods). UMD had 4-2 lead in the 3rd and let it get away before losing 5-4.

I remember that game... BGSU got dicked the year before by the committee with probably the best goaltending tandem in the west in Wayne Collins and Mike David.

Good for Bemidji... makes sense for UNO to do it on travel cause there aren't any short bus rides for them in the CCHA.
Maybe Michigan Tech back to the Central?

Alabama-Huntsville will be joining the CCHA in the coming days and weeks. They are the only team without an affiliation right now and the CCHA needs one more team.

Would love to see one or two of the top D-III teams in Wisconsin (St. Norbert, Stevens Point, Superior, etc.) make the jump to D-I hockey.

    Superior-UMD would become instant rivals.

I believe there's still a moratorium on programs jumping to the D-I level right now. That's in place mostly for football and basketball, but I believe it applies to hockey as well, although the school in question would not have to raise the rest of their program to the D-I level.
