North Dakota's also downsizing leagues, from the Big Sky to the Summit.

I don't think that's the right term. For one thing, they're both one-bid leagues. For another, ND will be joining the other three Dakota schools, which makes perfect sense.

Cal is on the clock next. Gonna be a lot of hacked-off athletes in Berkeley when the Bears announce their forthcoming cuts.

Do they blame soccer, Title IX or both?

I'm starting to believe Cal is actively sabotaging its own athletic department so it can downsize and apply for admission to the SCIAC.

Agreed. Thought at the time they joined the Big Sky it might be a bit much for them in football.

Alex, my answer is, "What is Title IX?"

They didn't have a choice. The MVFC didn't want them. Big Sky offered an all-sports home. I don't think they wanted to be a football associate in one league and an all-sports member in another, and I'm not sure the Big Sky was going to offer another football associate membership, since they already had Cal Poly and UC Davis on the roster.

Where does one hear "surf's up" most often in Missouri?
