I am in a NL-only auction style keeper league.

My keepers for next season will probably be Billingsly, Fielder, Uggla, Dunn, Pena, Cordero, James, Brian Wilson and DeRosa either due to long term contract, or I have them at a good price.

My minor leaguers whom I have rights to include, Fowler, Kershaw, Rasmus, Walker, Morales and Carlos Gonzalez.

The league is great, and I am set up well for the future.

Yeah, we transitioned from a touchdown league to a somewhat standard scoring league this year and some of our old scoring rules were kept. We get 1 point for every 10 yards rushing or receiving, 1 point for every 25 yards passing, touchdowns are six points.

Now, the big difference is that touchdowns over 40 yards are a 3-point bonus. TDs over 50 yards are a 5-point bonus.

Like mike311gd said, my big three gave me some big touchdowns, a couple of them of the 50-yard variety. Plus, I also have T.J. Houshmandzadeh as my other receiver.

That's another thing, we play three RBs and three WRs each week, as opposed to two RBs and two WRs. It hasn't helped me with regards to RBs because I'm not great there, but my six WRs are Moss, T.O., Housh, Braylon Edwards, David Patten and Amani Toomer. At one point, I had the top four scoring receivers in our league.

I was in a Yahoo league once where the commissioner set the scoring to a half-point for every return yard. I plucked Dante Hall off the waiver wire (this was the year he went bonkers -- 2003, maybe?) and finished second. The guy who beat me had nothing but return specialists in his lineup.

Did the commissioner keep the same scoring the following year?

That's fucking ridiculous. I think I give my league one point for every 20 return yards or so.

  6. Is Ricky Williams (Mia) a bad pickup if you have an open space on your roster and no glaring holes? He may play this season, right?

Why the hell not? What else do you have to lose?

    Just hide your Doritos.

  8. In my league you get penalized a game for every guy on your team that gets suspended during the season.

Depending on when/if he plays, he may not have a chance to get suspended.

No, it was a one-time thing. I think the commish just plain screwed up, and it was week three or four before anyone caught it. By then, people had started making moves and it was too late to change it.
It was pretty funny to see Dante Hall putting up 200-point games, though, and outscoring entire "normal" teams by himself. The guy who won the league had something like 700 points one week.

Two years ago, one commissioner set the defensive scoring to three points per solo tackle and one point for an assist. You get a guy like Shawne Merriman or Brian Urlacher and that was an easy 27-35 points a week. I hit 289 one week and finished third in the league. We now get two points per tackle and a half-point for an assist.

What do you do when a guy who's going no where in your league starts making ridiculously lop-sided trades (i.e. giving Derek Anderson & Andre Johnson for Donald Driver, Bernard Berrian, Matt Schaub and Antwaan Randle El)? Hopefully enough people catch on in time to veto the deal, but what else can be done?
